WHEN the euro – a currency built not on real wealth but the vanity of politicians – finally collapses, there is one small request that I’d like to make.
And that will be some form of recognition and acceptance that some of us had been right all along.
There is at the moment a 21st century equivalent of the mediaeval Black Death sweeping the continent of Europe and no can say where this contagion will lead us. Greece, Spain, Portugal… how once-mighty empires are tottering.
The fact that Gordon ‘Mr Bumble’ Brown failed to find the guts to take us in was undoubtedly a crowning mercy.
Now that’s something I didn’t think I’d ever do... agree with the late, unmissed Prime Minister.
