A WORCESTER footballer fulfilled a life-time ambition by scoring at Old Trafford’s famous Stretford End in a one-off charity match.

As previously reported in your Worcester News, Elliot King, of Keates Avenue, Blanquettes Estate, bid £700 through the not-for-profit organisation Football Aid to take part in the 90-minute game.

Mr King, a Manchester United season ticket holder, travelled up with family on Bank Holiday Monday for the team’s Premier League title parade then took to the field in the “theatre of dreams” the following day.

The 25-year-old, who plays for VBL in the Worcester Saturday League and CMB Sports in the Sunday Premier, said it was an amazing experience using the same dressing room as the United players before running out onto the hallowed turf.

His team came from 3-1 down to win the game 5-3 and Mr King, wearing a personalised number 10 shirt, helped himself to a brace of goals.

Mr King said: “It was an absolute dream come true, scoring two goals at the Stretford End was an unbelievable feeling.

“Thanks to all my friends and family for their support.”

Two matches organised by Football Aid were played at Old Trafford on Tuesday, raising a total of £45,000.

The organisation has teamed up with a number of clubs across the country offering fans the chance to play in a series of one-off matches to raise funds for charity. For more information, visit footballaid.com.
