THE mother of a Worcester dancer has said she would love to throw a party for all the people in Worcester who have supported her daughter.
Sue Love is urging people to pick up their phones once more to vote for daughter Katie, who is down to the final six of BBC1’s So You Think You Can Dance?
The Love family is hoping they will have to make the journey to the London studio twice more – once today and next week – but can only do it if Miss Love’s home city continues to support her.
Mrs Love said. “I just want to say ‘thank you’ to everyone for voting and ask them to just keep voting for the next two weeks. If I could, I’d love to throw a big party and invite the whole of Worcester to say thank you – we are so grateful.”
Mrs Love, of Broadmore Green, near Rushwick, has echoed her daughter’s words to your Worcester News just last week, when she told us she never expected to make it so far.
“We didn’t expect it either,” said Mrs Love. “I cannot believe it really. When you say she is in the semi-finals and down to the last three girls – it’s amazing.
“I think she deserves to be there but, honestly, when it started I did not know what to expect.
“I think Katie’s dream would be to be in that final. I do not think she would think there was any possibility of her winning. I think she thinks she will be recognised for her dancing – I don’t think she realises that she is already recognised and whatever happens I am sure she will get work from this.”
Mrs Love said Miss Love, aged 24, was now feeling the strain of competing for weeks on end and was very tired – a feeling which her family can understand.
“We are absolutely exhausted with the whole thing,” said Mrs Love. “The trips forwards and backwards to London but the emotional rollercoaster is the thing that gets to you. It’s when you are there at the voting, it’s awful. It does not even matter whether it is your child or someone else's.
“As far as I am concerned, I would love them all to win.”
