A WOMAN has avoided custody despite breaching a suspended sentence order for the third time.
Nazreen Herbert-Carter was told she could have “easily gone down” when she was sentenced at Worcester Magistrates Court.
The 32-year-old, of Brookthorpe Close, Warndon, Worcester, was given an additional five-month curfew order between 8pm and 8am and supervision for nine months after pleading guilty to theft.
Louise Mead, prosecuting, said Herbert-Carter was seen in the cosmetics aisle of Superdrug in High Street, Worcester, by a member of staff who recognised her from previous incidents.
Herbert-Carter put five mascaras, worth £27.95, in a carrier bag before going into the drinks aisle.
Mrs Mead said: “She paid for the drink but did not pay for the mascaras.”
Susie Duncan, defending, said Herbert-Carter was working hard to turn her life around.
She is currently studying for a GCSE in maths, having previously studied for one in English, and is about to start training as a hairdresser.
Mrs Duncan said: “She cannot tell you why she did it or what she would have done with the mascara. She has lots of health issues, has the mental age of a teenager and also suffers from depression. She is on a lot of medication.
“She’s battled with drugs but to her credit she’s completely off them.”
Herbert-Carter was also ordered to pay £50 costs.
