A WORCESTERSHIRE council will discuss how it can best use the money it has received from the Government’s New Homes Bonus Scheme.
In the past, when new houses were built, the Government would reduce its financial support to Wychavon District Council on the basis that additional income was being raised through the additional council tax revenue being collected.
However, under the New Homes Bonus Scheme, the council receives a set amount of annual grant for each additional house built in the district, which it can then invest in the way it decides is most appropriate for local people.
A protocol of how to use the New Homes Bonus has been drawn up and is set to be discussed by the district council’s executive board at its meeting on Tuesday, June 7.
Wychavon’s first payment of £361,276 has now been received and the council has called on its executive board, along with MPs, representatives of parish and town councils and the police and fire authorities to come together to discuss how the money can be used.
