KIND-hearted staff at a business have helped to boost the learning of partially sighted students.
Debit Finance Collections of Milton Keynes have donated two Kindles to New College Worcester.
The devices allow their users to download books electronically and will contribute towards learning in the college’s low vision department and library. They can enlarge text and minimise glare, making it easier for partially sighted students to read.
Company director Ivan Stevenson, whose mother Diane is a tutor at the college, presented the Kindles last week.
“I had a wonderful tour of the campus by the head boy,” he said.
“The need for the equipment was brought to my attention by my mother. It’s nice to know the Kindles will help the students with their studies and the donation enables them to try the technology out before they buy.”
Fund-raising manager Anne Priestley said the college was delighted.
”As a non-maintained school, donations of equipment like these are especially important and will be used by students to access books they would not normally be able to,” she said. “They will make a tremendous difference to their lives — we are so grateful.”
