OUR May meeting took the form of a cheese and wine occasion while Ann Meredith took us through the two resolutions.
This year’s resolutions were on factory farming and the close of local libraries. The majority voted in favour of these.
Julie, our president, announced another tour of the cathedral and members put their names forward for this. Liz Nether, who had won the bursary for this year, gave an account of her visit to Denman College where she took a course on bread making and kindly brought us a sample of bread which she had made.
The competition was for the Mary Pugh Memorial Cup and was won by Julie with Margaret Tufnall second.
We hope to have a fund-raising day in August where we will hope to have some members showing off their Ascot hats. We meet on the third Wednesday of the month and anyone who would like to join us will be made welcome.
