OUR meeting in May was held with the minimum acceptable number of participants due to holidays and sickness.
The chairman informed those present of the sad loss of Lou Fairbairn after many years of bravely suffering and fighting a terminal illness. We send our condolences to Neville and the family at this sad time.
As mentioned in the last report, our prospects of keeping the local British Legion branch going in Powick and Callow End are looking bleak. Unless we gain some interest from the community and secure new members, the chances of keeping a branch do not look good.
This is particularly sad as the Royal British Legion nationally has embarked on its 91st year since formation on May 15, 1921.
If we do have to fold, Remembrance Sunday in Powick and Callow End will not seem the same somehow. If you can spare a couple of hours for one evening a month and are sympathetic to our cause why not join us, contact John on 01905 830805.
We have the Group Three Rally Service to be held at St John’s Church on Sunday, June 12, at 10am and parking is permitted at Sainsbury’s car park for up to two hours. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 14, at Madresfield Club at 8.15pm.
