THE relocation of Worcester Bosch and development of a new technology park which will secure 3,000 jobs has been given another boost.
During questions to the Department of Energy and Climate Change Worcester’s MP Robin Walker asked about the potential that investment in green jobs and technologies will have and followed that up by urging Greg Barker, the minister for climate change, to send a strong message of support to Bosch’s board showing the UK Government’s commitment to green jobs and green growth.
Mr Barker confirmed that the Government is committed to green investment and is supportive of the expansion.
We reported in your Worcester News last month how the Government has set aside a £17.85 million cash grant from the regional growth fund for the Worcester Technology Park off junction 6 of the M5 and relocation of the heating giant.
Speaking afterwards Mr Walker said: “His answer confirms what I have always believed that green growth is a massive opportunity for Worcester and the support we have received, both from this department and through the regional growth fund, are a significant step forward for the vital expansion we all want to see from Worcester Bosch.
“Jobs for people in Worcester should remain firmly at the top of our list of priorities and as MP I am determined to support them however I can.”
