Privacy v Freedom of Speech. Two rights granted to all of us through the Human Rights Act, but two rights that come into conflict.
The current debate in the media – much of it inaccurate and full of hot air – is being carried out by tabloid newspaper editors, MPs, celebs, judges and solicitors.
You would think the public’s interest in this is whether they get the right to find out which soccer star is playing away, and with whom.
Yet the voice we don’t hear is ordinary people asked a simple question – how much of your family’s right to privacy are you willing to forego for the right to free speech?
