New police chief announced
THE county’s police authority has selected a new chief constable to succed Paul West.
Current Deputy Chief Constable David Shaw will take up the new post on August 1.
Mr Shaw, who joined West Mercia in 2008, is the head of the regional collaboration team looking at ways in which the force can work closely with Warwickshire Police to cut costs.
He said: “I have been very privileged to serve in this force as deputy chief constable and even more privileged to have been selected as chief constable to continue to serve the people of West Mercia.
