A MAN has been arrested after a woman passenger claimed she was attacked by a taxi driver.

Police are appealing for witnesses who were in Worcester city centre at about 1am in the early hours of Sunday, May 15, where the woman had been dropped off.

The victim told police she was attacked and left with facial injuries, before getting out of the cab in Angel Place.

She was treated at Worcestershire Royal Hospital’s A&E department for non-life-threatening injuries.

PC Mark Slade said: “I would like to hear form anyone out in Worcester at around the times given who may have seen the incident take place.

“The dark-coloured taxi was parked near to the amusement arcade on the corner of Angel Place.”

A man in his 30s was arrested by police on Monday, May 16, on suspicion of assault.

He was later released on police bail while enquiries continue.
