ENERGETIC pupils and staff have walked up hill and down dale to help raise money for disaster victims.

Gorse Hill Primary School teachers Rob Harrison and Darren Davies walked 60 miles from Clee Hill to Bredon within 24 hours.

They left Clee Hill at 2pm on Tuesday and arrived in Bredon at 6.30am yesterday.

Their colleagues Caroline Virgo and Emma Marsh walked about 40 miles along the same route, finishing at about midnight on Tuesday.

Pupils from the school, who belong to four houses named after hills – Clee, Bredon, Malvern and Abberley – also walked up their individual house’s hill on Tuesday while reception classes held a teddy bears picnic.

The staff and pupils were raising money for the Rotary Club’s Shelter boxes project.

The chests include items needed for a family of six to survive and are sent to places worldwide to help those displaced by disasters such as earthquakes and floods.

Headteacher Viv Cranton said: “The children did it because the Rotary club come in and support us as a school.”

She said club members helped children learn to read and donated dictionaries to school leavers.
