A HEROIN addict has reached the age where she needs to act responsibly, a court was told.

Kirsty Gordani, aged 30, was ordered to comply with a drug rehabilitation requirement after admitting two counts of shoplifting.

Gordani, of Fulbert Road, Pershore, stole four joints of meat worth £41.58 from Morrisons in Malvern and £83 of girls’ clothing from Marks & Spencer in Worcester.

Louise Mead, prosecuting, said during the theft from Morrisons on Friday, April 8, Gordani had to be restrained and told security staff ‘I’ve got a needle and I will use it’.

Following the Marks & Spencer theft on Tuesday, April 19, she told police she stole to pay off a drug debt.

Sarah Brady, defending, admitted Gordani’s 10-year record was appalling.

“In the last three years, she’s served three custodial sentences,” she said.

“She’s accustomed to custody but it’s made it very difficult to take the steps required to stop heroin. She needs to take responsibility”.

Gordani was given a 12-month community order including 12 months supervision and a six-month rehabilitation requirement and ordered to pay £100 costs.
