IN a departure from tradition the new chairman of Worcestershire County Council has chosen his daughter to be his consort.
While former chairmen have been joined on official visits by husbands and wives in the past, Councillor Ed Moore will be joined by his daughter Amy Moore.
Coun Moore, who represents Clent division in Bromsgrove, was elected chairman at last Thursday’s meeting of full council.
His vice chairman is Councillor Rob Adams who represents Upton Snodsbury.
Coun Moore said: “It’s an absolute honour for me to have been chosen as chairman. I will do everything possible to promote this county and look forward to an exciting year ahead.” Coun Moore, who has been a county councillor since 2005 and served on various committees, will have an ambassadorial role to fulfil, promoting the council and county of Worcestershire.
During his year he will carry out a host of civic, community and ceremonial duties as well as chairing meetings of full council.
