TWO Worcester school choirs have sung their way to success at the Cheltenham Festival of the Performing Arts.
St Mary’s School in Worcester won the competition in both the under 16 and under 19 classes.
The under-16 choir sang Psalm 150 by Kodály and America by Berstein whilst the Celiante under-19 choir sang Song for Athene by John Tavener and Mister Sandman by Ballard.
Judges ranked the Celiante choir as outstanding at the festival on Wednesday, May 4.
Mrs Hudson, head of music at St Mary’s, said: “The girls’ performances were truly stunning and they richly deserved returning to school with two silver cups in recognition of their talent.
“Our particular thanks go to Amanda Ballard, our choir director, who is a constant source of inspiration to the girls.”
