THE meeting on May 5 was held in St James this month due to the local elections taking place in the village hall.
We had our business and discussed various items including our 90th birthday meeting next month. We have decided to invite other WIs and some other guests to help us celebrate.
We have won all our skittles matches and are through to the next round – best of luck.
Julia informed us of a new venture starting up in September called Village Coffee Shop which is to be held weekly in the village hall. We are trying to encourage any one to drop-in for a chat and a coffee. Francis also informed us of a coffee morning on May 21 at her house for Christian Aid, between 10am and noon.
We then went on to discuss the resolutions that had been proposed – one on the mega farming, large scale farming and the other on supporting local libraries to prevent closures.
Sylvia gave us a breakdown on the farming resolution and on how large farms might have an effect on the environment, other farms and the health of the animals. We also looked at the second resolution on asking the Government to maintain support for the local libraries.
The votes were then taken and will be sent to our delegate to take to the AGM. We were then served tea and biscuits and reminded to look at the board for all the visits and outing we might like to sign up for.
