THE president welcomed 22 members and one visitor to the May Resolutions meeting.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and signed.
Any members who did not wish to receive copies of WI Life magazine were asked to give their names to Jean Bolter.
Christine Hood was presented with a plant and card for her wedding on the May 14.
Details of Hanbury Hall golden wedding celebrations were given and it was agreed to enter its flower arrangement competition.
A photo of members at the plant and produce stall would be sent in for the Powerpoint showcase at Croome Court on June 28.
The treasurer reported that two tickets for the Lucy Hingley lecture had been received.
The quiz tickets had been applied for.
A letter has been sent to WI House asking why tickets are being received so late.
Arrangements for the outing to Tynesfield were given.
The Denman College outing is booked for October 10, and Jenny Marsh asked if there were any further names to be entered.
Margaret Gearey reported on the World Faith Day visit to the Buddhist temple and the Greek Orthodox Church.
The play reading group will resume meeting again in September. The next meeting of the sewing group is at the home of Jean Westwood on May 31.
The bridge group will begin again in June.
The book Worcestershire Walks has been purchased for the WI.
The next meeting will be on June 14, when the competition will be a flower arrangement in an egg cup.
Members then began to discuss the two resolutions where HM Government was urged (a) to maintain support for local libraries as an essential local, educational and information resource and (b) to ensure that planning permission with regard to factory farming, particularly large animals such as cows and pigs is not guaranteed.
After much discussion with both resolutions, the support from members was 100 per cent for the library resolution.
However, with regard to the factory farming issue, the support from members was 18 for the motion, five abstentions and none against.
The raffle was won by Marguerite Mills and the competition by Mary Gray.
