A WORCESTER man raised more than £1,000 for charity just by ‘walking’ to work.
Huw Pritchard, aged 26, ran the 26 miles from home in Bozward Street, St John’s, to work in Hereford as part of National Walk2Work Week.
Mr Pritchard, sports co-ordinator at Herefordshire College of Technology and Hereford College of Art, completed his usual 40-minute car journey in an impressive four hours 40 minutes.
He raised more than £1,000 in sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues, which he is donating to the St David’s Foundation, based in South Wales, which cared for his grandmother, who lived in Chepstow.
The foundation provides free care for people facing progressive life-threatening illnesses which are no longer curable.
Mr Pritchard said: “Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far.
“It really makes all the difference during the hard miles.
“I enjoyed most of the run, especially the scenery in both Herefordshire and Worcestershire, and I’ve recovered with only some slight stiffness near the knees.”
