A FINANCE chief says the NHS in Worcestershire is managing its cash well, despite recession and past financial problems.
Brian Hanford, director of finance for NHS Worcestershire, said the organisation was meeting all of its financial responsibilities when he spoke at a meeting at Pershore Civic Centre.
The organisation had a statutory duty to remain within its resource limit, with a target of delivering a £3 million surplus for 2010/11.
Mr Hanford said the trust had done this with a surplus of £3.47 million which it would get back from the Strategic Health Authority for the beginning of this financial year (2011/12).
The organisation also has to make sure it manages its £860 million annual resource limit without either becoming overdrawn or having too much in the bank, Mr Hanford said. NHS Worcestershire has also met this target.
Mr Hanford said: “We have achieved all our statutory and all our administrative duties.”
The accounts are now being audited.
