A HIGH profile county councillor has been booted out of the cabinet in a major reshuffle.
Councillor Derek Prodger has lost his position of being in charge of transport and safe environment after five years of being one of the top decision makers at County Hall.
His replacement is Councillor John Smith who previously held the health and well-being post.
That position has gone to Councillor Marcus Hart who was previously shifted from being in charge of a failing children’s services, now the responsibility of Councillor Liz Eyre.
Councillor Stephen Clee, the previous cabinet member for corporate services, has also lost his job.
Councillor Adrian Hardman will remain as leader with responsibility for finance while his deputy Councillor Simon Geraghty will be responsible for economy and infrastructure, including community and spatial planning and strategic transportation.
Councillors promoted to cabinet positions are Jane Potter, who becomes responsible for education and skills; John Campion, who moves into the role of cabinet member for localism and communities; and David Thain who will hold the temporary post of transformation and change helping to drive forward the council's reform agenda over the next two years.
Councillors Anthony Blagg and Philip Gretton retain their positions in charge of environment and waste management, and adult social care respectively.
The changes come into effect immediately.
