THE hall looked very spring-like with tables covered with green cloths and a posy of daffodils on each one.
The trading stall was full of interesting items. The raffle consisted of 20 prizes and there was a delicious buffet. We were ready for our birthday meeting and Maureen Matthews welcomed all our members and 20 visitors.
Christine Williams kept business news to a minimum.
Barbara Rowberry, winner of the monthly competitions for 2011, was presented with her prize and the Edna Powell Cup.
The skittles evening at the Anchor Inn is on May 16. The summer outing is on June 22 to Cutnall Green Farm.
The Guilded Lilies entertained us with a variety of songs, monologues and humorous sayings. Maureen thanked them and invited them to stay for supper. There was a picture quiz on each table. The winning table with 28 out of 36 points was our entertainers the Guilded Lilies who received a small Easter egg each. Prizes in the raffle were won equally between members and visitors. The evening ended with a parade of Easter bonnets.
Susan Oakley was the judge and she chose Jean Birbeck’s boater decorated with eggs, chicks and daffodils as the winner. Next month is the resolutions and we will have cheese and wine.
