A HEARTFELT appeal has been made by the father of a child who receives care from a Worcester charity.
Matt Greaves and his nine-year-old daughter Jessica, who has cerebral palsy, will take part in the annual Triple Run in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
The pair are calling on people throughout Worcestershire to take part in the event on Sunday, May 29, at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern. The deadline for entries is this Friday.
The unique three-race format comprises the Malvern half-marathon, the 5km Spring Fun Run and the 1km Chicken Run – a wheelchair-friendly course for people with disabilities or special needs.
Mr Greaves, of Stourbridge, is running a half-marathon for Acorns, which has a centre in Bath Road, while wife Natalie and Jessica, who both nearly died due to complications during her birth, will be taking part in the Chicken Run.
The 33-year-old said: “Jessica’s face lights up when she sees the Acorns people, because she knows she’s going to be treated like a queen. Acorns take care of Jessica so we can have time for ourselves.”
Kerrie Davies, of Acorns, said: “It’s critical that as many people as possible sign up to help us reach our £35,000 target for this event.
