A FORMAL complaint has been made against Worcestershire Royal Hospital following the death of a 25-year-old Worcester woman.
Donna Bishop, of Swallowfields, Warndon Villages, was admitted to the hospital before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she died on Tuesday, January 4.
The cause of her death is not yet known.
An inquest on Wednesday was adjourned until a hospital investigation is concluded.
Worcestershire Coroner Geraint Williams said there had been confusion over whether or not Miss Bishop’s family had made an official complaint.
“I have now received a report from a police officer that formal complaints [against the Royal] have been made,” he said.
“I’m aware doctors are conducting an internal review but I haven’t yet seen the report.”
Miss Bishop’s father, Mark, said the family were not aware a formal complaint had been lodged but agreed they had raised issues about his daughter’s treatment.
After the hearing a spokesman for Worcestershire Acute Hospital NHS Trust said it would not comment until the inquest has been concluded.
