VOTERS across the UK have said 'no' to the alternative vote - a proposal which would have totally reformed the way that governments are elected.
It seems that around 69% of the 19.1 million people who voted in the referendum want to keep the current first-past-the-post system. Some votes are still being counted but enough 'no' votes have already been recorded to mean the 'yes' contingent can no longer win.
Earlier in Worcester fewer than 10,000 of the 30,000 AV voters said yes to the shake-up.
