A MAN who has admitted damaging his neighbours’ cars denies the incident was racially aggravated.

Lee Haines, aged 35, of Brookthorpe Close, Warndon, pleaded guilty at Worcester Magistrates Court to two charges of causing criminal damage and one of using threatening words or behaviour, but denied any of the charges were racially aggravated.

Matt Dodson, prosecuting, said the victim, Kelly Cuthbert, and her partner Arvinder Dhillon were allocated one parking space outside their home, as was Haines, but the couple often parked one of their cars in his space.

On Wednesday, April 13, Mr Dhillon went to his car, which was in Haines’s parking space, to speak to his mother on the phone.

Mr Dodson said: “The defendant started kicking the door of the car and Mr Dhillon reversed out of his way.

"The defendant went back inside and came out with a crowbar about two feet in length.

"He started smashing each window of Miss Cuthbert’s car then chased after Mr Dhillon, who drove off.”

The case was adjourned until Thursday, June 30, for a trial to determine whether the incident was racially aggravated.
