THE future of the world’s smallest theatre is in doubt following the theft of lead from its roof.
The lead was stolen from the Theatre of Small Convenience in Edith Walk, Malvern, during the night of Wednesday, April 27, just days before it reopened for the season on Saturday, April 30.
Founder Dennis Neale, who is recovering from throat cancer, said the potential cost combined with his health could even force the theatre to close.
He said: “I was just starting to get back into it and then this happens.
"We are open as normal, but might be disrupted at times.
"I’m hoping it won’t cause closure, but I can’t be sure.
"How much do I do to keep an old building running?”
The current show is The Last Turtle in Cloud Cuckoo Land, a six-minute whimsical puppet show shown on demand every Saturday from 1.30pm until 5pm and extra weekdays in holidays.
Entry is £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children. For details, call Mr Neale on 01684 568933.
