A WORCESTER woman said she is in constant fear for her and her son’s safety after her ex-husband was released on bail while waiting to be sentenced for making violent threats against them.

Hubert Locke is now on the run from police after failing to turn up at court.

The 32-year-old is currently the subject of a non-molestation order which means he is not to approach or contact his ex-wife and her son.

We reported last year how Locke was wanted then arrested by police for breaching the order and failing to comply with bail conditions.

Locke, of Wych Road in Droitwich, was arrested again last month for breaching the order a second time.

He admitted entering Rydal Close in Warndon, Worcester, which he was prohibited from doing and also pleaded guilty to causing racially aggravated harassment alarm or distress.

He was bailed to attend court yesterday while a pre-sentence report was carried out.

Locke was also due to appear in court on Tuesday charged with affray in connection with an incident in Worcester on November 16 last year.

He is also charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of his duty.

Locke failed to attend court on both days and a warrant has now been issued for his arrest.

Locke’s ex-wife, who does not want to be named, said Locke has made violent threats to her and her son and does not feel safe while he is at large.

“I just don’t understand why he wasn’t remanded in custody,” she said. “He is already on a non-molestation order but has since threatened to kill my son. When he has gone to court for breaching the order for a second time he has been given bail – it’s ridiculous.

“He has not been living where he is supposed to and has been going into areas of Worcester where he isn’t allowed to go.

“In the meantime, I am left fearing for my and my son’s safety knowing he is around rather than in jail where he should be.”

A spokesman for Worcester police said: “Police are actively looking for Locke and are making enquiries into his whereabouts.

“Anyone who has any knowledge of Hubert Locke’s whereabouts is asked to call police on 0300 3333000 or crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
