UNIVERSITY students are helping to educate people about how they can save money and make the most of the food they buy.

Until April, teams will be handing out tips, advice and recipes for leftovers to people in St John’s, Dines Green and Lower Wick, Worcester.

The average family throws away food worth about £680 every year.

County councillor Anthony Blagg, cabinet member for waste and sustainability, said: “Reducing food waste can save households money and it is a great way to help the environment.”

Students from the University of Worcester teamed up with Worcestershire County Council and Worcester City Council as part of the Love Food Hate Waste campaign.
