DRIVERS risk speeding fines after tests showed that almost two-thirds of drivers were breaking the speed limit on a stretch of road west of Worcester.
The Safer Roads Partnership discovered that about 62 per cent of drivers broke the 30mph speed limit in Suckley Road, Bransford.
The partnership has now introduced mobile speed cameras in the area as a result of the survey.
They also found that 15 per cent travelled at a speed above 38.5mph.
The data was collected over a week which showed there was an average of 828 vehicles passing along this road each day.
Data will also be collected regularly to assess the impact of enforcement on the speed of drivers.
Katy Jenkins, of the Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia, said: “Speeding vehicles compromise the safety of the road and pose a danger to others using the route.
“We are launching speed enforcement in direct response to the issue of speeds on the road, which has been raised with us by the parish council and residents.
"It is hoped that the speed camera van will encourage drivers to comply with the speed limit.”
