TEMPERATURES are set to remain warmer than average this week but people are urged to be vigilant against potential flooding.

Average temperatures for this time of year are normally about 7C (45F), but this week temperatures are set to rise to 10-13C (50-55F) during the day and 8-10C (46-50F) at night.

Your Worcester News weatherman Paul Damari said: “Tuesday will be a lovely day, dry and bright.

“During the nights throughout the week, temperatures will be 8-10C (46-50F), even running above what it should be in the day.

“The weather will turn cloudy with light rain and drizzle between Tuesday night and Thursday, but Friday will be back to a cloudy, but dry day and milder weather as the wind turns south-westerly.”

The river Severn has flooded in Wales due to heavy rain, but the Environment Agency has said river levels are levelling as the water makes its way downstream to Worcestershire.

A spokeswoman for the Environment Agency said: “This flood is different because none of the extra water is coming through tributaries so it is levelling out as it comes downstream.

“Levels are rising on the Severn in Worcestershire and a low level flood alert has been issued across the whole county.

“It’s possible that flood warnings may be issued for Worcester and Bewdley but there should just be normal water flooding on the Severn.

“However, we will continue to monitor the situation 24 hours a day and we ask people to remain alert to the risk of flooding.”
