A RECORD number of teams have entered Worcestershire’s first Business Game – an interschool competition which tests the problem-solving skills of budding entrepreneurs.

In the competition, which is open to pupils aged between 16 and 18, teams are confronted with a business scenario and must decide the best solution before presenting it to judges.

This year marks the first year that heats are being held in Worcester and 240 pupils will compete on Tuesday, March 22, at Sixways Stadium.

The budding entrepreneurs will be guided by accountancy firms such as Ballard Dale Syree Watson in Droitwich.

Celia Adams, chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Worcestershire, said: “It is one of the biggest responses in the country and it’s exciting to see the enthusiasm with so many pupils taking part from 33 schools. It’s a fantastic achievement as only four schools took part last year.

“To compete for jobs pupils need an extra edge and the challenge of the Business Game helps provide skills and knowledge to succeed. We hope many will carry on in careers in accountancy.”
