THE death of a man who plunged from a city centre car park and the discovery of a woman’s body are being linked by police.

A man in his 20s was found with serious head injuries lying outside the CrownGate shopping centre in Worcester at 5.37pm on Friday, February 4.

He later died in hospital and has been named locally as Aaron Stewart.

Then at about 7pm the body of a woman in her 30s – named by neighbours as Sarah Fernandes Mason – was discovered at a terraced house in Cooper Street, off Hill View Road in Malvern.

The woman’s death is being treated as suspicious and both incidents are being linked by police officers.

Neighbours said the woman lived with her mother and daughter at the house in Cooper Street for about 18 months and had started going out with the man last year.

“They were a quiet couple and kept themselves to themselves,” said a resident, who declined to be named.

“I went out at about 7pm (on the Friday) and when I came back there was a police riot van, a police 4x4 and an ambulance car outside the house.

“The ambulance went away with nobody in it, then a white van turned up and some guys in white overalls showed up.”

Detective Inspector Jon Wallis said: “We were called to two separate incidents on Friday which, after initial enquiries, we are now linking.

“The man and the woman were in a relationship and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the two deaths.”

The results of post mortem examinations are expected.

Geraint Williams, the county coroner, has been informed and inquests are set to open in due course.
