AN open evening is being held for young musicians.

Worcestershire County Council’s youth music service will be holding an open evening at its area music centre in Pershore next Monday.

Pershore Area Music Centre is one of six centres provided by Worcestershire Youth Music across the county, aimed at pupils who have been learning for a year.

The centre runs a theory class, brass band, string ensemble and a group for woodwind and intermediate level brass players.

All the groups take part in concerts at the end of each term, and will be sharing concerts with a number of schools from the Pershore and Evesham area.

Each May, groups take part in Worcestershire Youth Music’s gala concert at Symphony Hall.

Simon Grew, Worcester-shire Youth Music area director for Pershore, said: “The centre offers the opportunity for young players from the Pershore and Evesham area to experience the fun of playing in a group, as well as meeting new friends of their own age.”

Young musicians and their parents are invited to attend the session, which takes place at Pershore High School from 7-8pm.
