INQUISITIVE Cub Scouts have had a peak inside one of the city’s grandest buildings.

The Worcester 2nd Cub Scouts group were entertained by mayor Mike Layland as they were shown the high ceilings of the great hall and the dark cells at the Guildhall in High Street, Worcester.

The youngsters were “the most well behaved people I’ve had in the mayor’s parlour for a long time” said councillor Layland.

“It was an absolute pleasure to have them in here and they were full of questions and all very interested.

“We took them down to the cells as well and their imaginations ran wild.

“There was a hook down there and they thought it might be where we toed people and birched them - but it was used to hold a water pipe up.”
