THE boyfriend of a woman who died after falling from a horse has paid a moving tribute to his soulmate.

As your Worcester News reported yesterday, Charlotte Cole, aged 23, was fatally injured while training horses at a Worcestershire racing yard.

Her partner Matt Linsey, of St Peter’s, Worcester, said: “She was my girlfriend for 18 months and she was my soulmate.

"We had talked about marriage and children.

“I’m absolutely mortified. It is very, very tragic and we are all extremely upset.

“She left me Wednesday morning as she always did. She said, ‘I’ll see you later darling’.

“I did see her later but I didn’t envisage seeing her as I did (at the hospital).”

Miss Cole, of Elgar Crescent, suffered severe head injuries after the horse she was riding tripped and unseated her at Claire Dyson Racing, at Frogsland Lane, Cleeve Prior.

The keen rider was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham and died without regaining consciousness last Friday.

The couple were on the verge of setting up home together and were going to race and train horses under the banner of CK Racing – Charlotte Kate Racing.

Mr Linsey, 32, a point-to-point trainer, intends to carry on their idea in tribute to Miss Cole.

He said: “It has put the frighteners on me, but she wouldn’t want me to feel like that. You just hope it won’t happen to you.”

He said: “I just want to say how deeply I miss her. I wish this bubble would pop and I wish she’d come round the corner and say, ‘Hi.’ “She was a fantastic girl.”

Claire Dyson, who owns the yard where Miss Cole was hurt, said: “She was a very good rider, an unbelievably hard-worker and enthusiastic.

“She was an invaluable member of our team and a very good friend as well.

“The team is completely distraught by it. She’s going to be greatly missed.”

Anna Millington is secretary of the Croome and West Warwickshire Foxhounds, of which Miss Cole was a member.

She said: “She was just a bubbly character and she was so looking forward to riding in her first point to point.

“You couldn’t have wished for anybody nicer and the hunt will very much miss her.”

In yesterday’s Worcester News, Charlotte’s mum Diane Cole, 53, paid tribute to her daughter.

She said: “She was a lovely, lovely person, full of life.

"She just lit our lives up for us and was a fantastic sister to Stephanie as well.

“We’re sad but she died doing what she loved. I can’t ask for more than that – that’s living your life to the full.

"I like to think that she would have had a smile on her face as she went up to the gallops.”
