A MAN has died and two others have been seriously injured in a crash.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the smash, which happened on the border of Worcestershire and Gloucestershire border last night.

A silver Peugeot 307 was travelling from Upton towards Tewkesbury when it skidded off the road and crashed into a tree on the B4211 near to the village of Longdon, in Tewkesbury, at 10.54pm.

The 19-year-old male driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where he later died.

A second 19-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and later transferred to Walsgrave Hospital in Coventry where he remains in a serious condition.

A third passenger, also 19, suffered minor injuries in the incident and was also taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

An incident support officer and three ambulances from West Midlands Ambulance Service were sent to the scene.

A spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a car on its roof. The three occupants, all men, were out of the vehicle.

“One man suffered significant head and chest injuries and was in cardiac arrest.

"Crews immediately commenced advanced life support on the man at the scene before quickly transferring him by land ambulance on blue lights to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

“Resuscitation attempts were continued en-route to hospital and medics were pre-alerted to the arrival of the man who was in a critical condition.

"Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance crews and hospital medics nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead shortly after arrival at hospital.

“A second man suffered a serious head injury and a third man sustained serious back and shoulder injuries.

"The two men, believed to be aged in their late teens or early 20s, were treated on scene by crews for their injuries and were immobilised with neck collars and spinal boards.

"Both were taken by land ambulances on blue lights to the same hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

Inspector Phil Worthington said: “This was a serious incident in which a young man sadly lost his life and another has been left with serious injuries.

“We are now appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw the vehicle being driven in the moments leading up to it.”
