WITH his beret set at a jaunty angle, a young Dudley Ward prepares for Royal Air Force training – but where is he now?

Mr Ward was one of a group of 11 boy entrants who joined the 43rd entry, aged 15 or 16, in 1961.

He spent 18 months at RAF Cosford training as an RAF photographer and left the base in December 1962.

His surviving colleagues have lost touch with him but want to invite him to a 50th reunion they have planned for this summer.

All they remember about him is that he lived and was educated in the Worcester area and think he may have returned to the city after his training.

John Lewis, one of the other boy entrants pictured with Mr Ward, appealed to your Worcester News readers to help him find his friend.

He said: “Dudley was a bit mysterious.

“We said to each other, ‘What do we know about him?’ and it was nothing.

“I feel he was fairly quiet about his background but I think his father was in antiques as I think he mentioned it in conversation once.

“He was quite posh and he had quite a cultured accent.”

Mr Lewis has already accounted for seven of the boys and discovered one had died in 2002. He has three men still to find.

The old friends intend to meet at Cosford on Saturday, June 4.

The training of boy entrants in the RAF ended in 1965.
