WORK to improve Worcester’s riverside is under way.

The regeneration of the footpath between the South Quay fountain and the canal bridge at Diglis has begun and will bring better paving and seating for residents and tourists to use.

Tree maintenance work is also being carried out between now and April when the work is due to finish. The pathway on the east side of the river has been closed off to the public while the work takes place.

Once paving, seating and surfacing improvements have been completed over the next three months the black swan statue, which was removed for repair, will be returned to its original place.

The improvements on the east bank side of the river will cost £200,000 while the completed works on the west side have already cost £600,000.
