ONE side of a busy Worcester road will be closed off for nine weeks while work on the entrance to the city’s newest supermarket gets under way.
The northbound side of Pheasant Street, running from St Martin’s Gate to Lowesmoor, will close on Monday. In a bid to keep traffic flowing, temporary traffic lights will not be used.
The closure will allow for the construction of a new entrance roundabout to Asda and associated drainage works.
A newsletter outlining the traffic management plan has been distributed to local businesses and residents and conversations have been held with interested parties in advance of the works.
Selwyn Rowley, of developer Carillion Richardson, said: “Unfortunately, the roadworks are unavoidable and we thank people for their patience during this important phase of the work.
“We are doing everything we can to minimise congestion through our diversion signage and traffic management planning.”
Pheasant Street is scheduled to fully reopen on Friday, April 8.
