THIS week’s guide to Worcestershire farmers’ market Christmas, I am going to look at cakes, sweet treats and savoury favourites.
Cakes, pastries and other goodies make great ‘thank you for inviting us over’ presents (it doesn’t always have to be a bottle of wine), whether you are visiting friends, close family or distant relatives over the festive season.
Plus, of course, there are everyone’s Christmas favourites – mince pies, Christmas cake, pudding and gingerbread houses.
You can stock up on all manner of fabulous festive specialities on the stalls manned by Worcestershire Country Markets, 19 Gales Farmhouse Foods, Churches Bakery, Hanley Swan Bakery and Tastebuds at your local farmers’ markets. Not every supplier attends every market but you are sure to find a choice of baked treats no matter which market you attend.
Today in Droitwich and next weekend in Bromsgrove, you will find Craig and Wendy Thornton’s Tastebuds stall, which has a fabulous range of cakes, flapjacks and quiches.
They have all your seasonal needs catered for, with quality home-made Christmas cakes and other goodies.
If you would prefer a savoury treat, either for yourself or as a gift, why not try a jar or two of delicious garlic – from the Snoggable Garlic Company.
From paprika to sun dried tomato, hot chilli to pomegranate and nutmeg, there are lots to choose from, so why not give yourself, or someone else, a garlicky gift this year.
You will find Belinda Welsman’s stall at Malvern on Saturday, Decemeber 18, and at Angel Place, Worcester, on Sunday, December 19.
Today’s farmers’ market is in Victoria Square, Droitwich, from 9am until 2pm, while tomorrow’s market is in Angel Place, Worcester, from 9am until 3pm.
Next weekend’s market is in High Street, Bromsgrove, from 9am until 5pm on Saturday, December 11.
