IT’s time to get all crafty in Worcester. A collection of local artists have been chosen to take part in an exclusive Christmas exhibition starting in Worcester, starting next Friday.
The show is at the city museum and art gallery and will feature the work of 17 artists.
Maggie Wallace, senior art gallery assistant, said: “Last year the gallery decided to expand the craftcase exhibition by displaying more work in the watercolour gallery.
“We set it out as a proper exhibition, but all the items were for sale and could be taken away at the time of purchase, rather than customers having to wait till the show finished. It proved to be successful enough to do it again this year.
“My aim for this year was to gather together local/regional artists who hadn’t exhibited Christmas last year.
“Some of the artists are completely new to us while others have had shows in either our two small craftcases in the shop or in the craftcase at the Commandery.”
The show will take place in Gallery 4 and will include the work of nine jewellers as well as wood, glass, ceramic, sculpture and textiles work.
STERLING WORK: Jewellery designer Gemma Farr’s work is hand-crafted in sterling silver.
A tutor at Worcester College of Technology, this year Gemma had her work featured in Vogue magazine’s May edition
PRETTY IN PURPLE: Fiona Tilbury’s silver, ceramic stone and beaded earrings. She uses fabrics, glass, metal, precious stones and porcelain. She is influenced by her Kashmiri background.
BEAUTIFUL BEADS: Janette and Blake Mackinnon make a wide range of exciting ceramic designer jewellery, including brooches, bracelets, buttons and clocks. All are made using their own porcelain and terracotta beads.
BLUE HEAVEN: Popi Pribojac’s Real silver, plastic buttons and beaded earrings. She uses textiles, semi precious stones and any interesting finds. She focuses on texture and individuality.
TAKE A TWIRL: New to the exhibition this year Worcestershire-based artist Anthony Davis goes back to nature and produces sculptures out of wood.
