SINGER Cher Lloyd knew she could be in the bottom two before Sunday night’s X Factor results show.

Millions of people watched as the teenager from Malvern Link broke down as she sang in the sing-off with fellow contestant Paije Richardson.

She had appeared upset from the start of the show.

Her performance of the Shakespears Sister track Stay was enough to save her, and it was Paije that the judges voted off.

Now Cher’s dad has revealed that a leak on the social messaging site Twitter had alerted his daughter to her precarious position hours before Sunday’s live show.

Darren Lloyd said: “We were tipped off in the morning.

"It was leaked on Twitter. We were hoping it was lies but unfortunately it was not.

“It happened the week before as well, with Aiden.

"Paije is a lovely, lovely man. He said that Cher would win and he was a nice bloke, even after he was sent home. It’s just a shame that there’s always two in the bottom.”

Tweets – seen by your Worcester News and apparently posted before the results being announced – predicted Cher and Paije would be in the bottom two.

The week before, Aiden Grinshaw told host Dermot O’Leary that he was prepared for his exit, having been alerted to a leak on Twitter which placed him in the bottom two.

Yesterday, a spokesman for X Factor said the so-called leaks were merely speculation.

Earlier this week, a newspaper claimed to know how many votes each of the finalists had received and surprisingly placed controversial contestant Wagner among those receiving the most votes.

A spokesman for X Factor said: “People make lots of unfounded predictions on the internet about the order of the contestants based on various popularity polls. There is not a leak.” Meanwhile, 17-year-old Cher is dusting herself off as she prepares for Saturday’s show when she will sing two songs.“She’s going to come back fighting,” said Mr Lloyd.
