WORCESTER'S sporting heroes swung into action yesterday and helped raise vital finds for the Prince's Trust.
The charity golf day at Sapey Golf Course saw stars from the Worcester Warriors, Worcestershire County Cricket Club and Worcester City Football Club teeing off in aid of struggling youngsters living in Herefordshire and Worcestershire. John Leftwich, area chairman of the Prince's Trust, said the event, sponsored by Wolseley UK, went brilliantly.
He said: "The professionals were on top form and really enjoyed themselves.
"With 21 teams in the tournament there were more than 81 golfers taking part."
The Warriors team were Tony Windo, Tony Boddy and John Brain. Graeme Hick, of England and Worcestershire, led the cricketers, with Steve Rhodes, Ben Smith and Steven Moore completing the foursome. Playing for Worcester City FC were manager Andy Preece, along with Andy Morrison, Jai Stanley and Paul Curtis, and a team of ex-England rugby players, including Gerry Acton, Martin Cooper, Jan Webster and John Finlan, also played.
