CHER Lloyd has made it through to the final eight of the X Factor competition.
Last night, as part of Elton John week, the 17-year-old sang Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word – incorporating her controversial trademark rap style, which once again polarised opinions across the Internet.
Judge Dannii Minogue was quick to point it out. She said: “I really liked the singing bit and I wish there was more of that and a little less of the rapping tonight, because I really think you’ve got in to your comfort zone now.”
Whereas Simon Cowell added: “I loved it and it sounded like a record – I loved the middle section of the song [the rap]. It made it less karaoke.”
He added: “You’re not cocky – you take criticism, you handle it well. You’re focussed and ambitious.”
And Cher’s mentor, Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole, said: “You’re a little star in the making and I’m privileged to be working with you.”
Millions of people started voting after the show last night, putting Cher, from Malvern Link, through to the next stage of the live shows tonight.
