AROUND 30 properties in Worcester were without water yesterday evening while engineers worked to fix a leaking pipe.
A spokesman from Severn Trent Water said: "It was an old cast iron pipe that burst. It is on Fort Royal Hill near to the junction with London Road. Water was turned off to isolate the problem. We think it affected 30 properties."
Contractors from the engineering firm Balfour Beatty were out at the site at just before 5.30pm, he added.
David Thatcher, head chef at The Little Sauce Factory restaurant, said: "The water was gushing out."
Severn Trent is carrying out work in London Road as part of a major scheme to replace old metal pipes with more durable plastic ones.
