SOLDIERS from the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters have successfully completed the annual Snowdon Challenge to raise funds for a multiple sclerosis centre.

And if the hilly course, which included rivers, ravines and bogs, wasn't tough enough, the 12 troops did it while carrying MS sufferer Barbara Cupit in her wheelchair.

Sgt Micky Saunders from Worcester said: "The Army loves nothing better than a good challenge and we simply couldn't resist the opportunity to take part in this one while also raising funds for such a vital service.

"Soldiers from every company within our battalion took part in this challenge, from the physical training instructors, HGV drivers to assault pioneers, so Barbara really was fully supported by the regiment.

"The challenge was a real test of physical and mental endurance and we hope our success will inspire others looking for a challenging and rewarding career to pay their Army careers office a visit."

The soldiers, who completed the course in one hour and 40 minutes, managed to raise more than £2,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre, which is in Nottingham.
