A TV chef is helping children in Worcestershire improve their eating habits.
Alan Coxon is supporting Worcestershire County Council's campaign to promote the benefits of healthy eating in schools, not just on pupils' bodies but also with educational attainment.
Following an extensive investigation into school catering, in which 150 schools were visited, 21 recommendations were presented to the county council's cabinet.
In response to those recommendations Alan, voted one of the top 10 chefs in the world by the BBC, has lent his name - and his considerable know-how - to highlighting the benefits of healthy eating. He said: "This is something I've been very interested in for a number of years, so when I heard about the county council's scrutiny exercise, I naturally asked if there was anything I could do.
"Healthy eating isn't just about ensuring our children have healthy options available to them throughout the day. It's also about educating them to know exactly why certain foods are good for them so they can make informed eating choices."
Alan's tour so far has taken in Stoke Prior First School, Great Malvern Primary School, Oak Hill First School (Redditch), Evesham High School, and Nunnery Wood High School.
