Legends of the 50’s and 60’s crooners Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin are recreated in the ‘Sands’ Casino, Las Vegas at the Bristol Hippodrome.
With the backing of a superb 15 piece orchestra set high at the rear of the stage and accompanied by the swing group the ‘Burelli sisters’ who were stunning, the icons had plenty of room to sing, dance, smoke and drink their way through the evening.
All three of the performers are hugely talented with little to choose between them -Tam Ward (Frank Sinatra), Giles Terera (Sammy Davis Jr.) and Nigel Casey (Dean Martin) effortlessly take you on a journey in to their world of glitz and glamour in their razor sharp tuxes with plenty of humour thro some classic one liners which filled the theatre with laughter.
Sammy Davis Jr. edged it for me, not only was his voice superb his fabulous tap dancing routine was a show highlight.
The classics – I’ve Got You Under My Skin, That’s Life, New York, New York, That’s Amore and many more followed – I really enjoyed Mr Bojangles. The show ends with My Way which judging by the reaction of the audience was what they had been waiting for.
The Rat Pack – Live From Las Vegas runs until Saturday, 12 June at the Bristol Hippodrome.
