CONCESSIONARY bus travel for the disabled and over 60s would be maintained if Labour wins the general election, according to the transport secretary.
Lord Andrew Adonis also said developing a parkway station at Norton, near Worcester, a plan which has been in the pipeline for decades, was “very attractive”.
He said if a detailed business case was put together he could, if re-elected, help put pressure on the train companies – often seen as the main stumbling block due to them being unsure as to the viability of the project – to drive the initiative on.
“Parkway stations have a very important part to play in the future of transport for getting people out of their cars and onto trains,” said Lord Adonis. “The Norton parkway station has potential and is very attractive.”
